Positive “Kid-firmations”

It dawned on me this weekend that I haven’t offered any suggestions to my readers yet on how to create affirmations for your children AND for yourself!   Hello???  We all could use a little boost sometimes to get us started with anything we do in life, right?  Soooo, today starts a 5 part series in my Positive Kid-firmations boost series to get you all rockin’ and rollin’ with creating those positive affirmations to help you children succeed in any area of their life!

The 5 part series will include positive affirmations for:

  1. Self Esteem
  2. Relationships
  3. Health
  4. Abundance
  5. Achievement

First I’d like to explain that positive affirmations are successful when:

  • They are said and/or written in present tense–‘I am very good at math.’  Rather than, ‘I will be great at math.’
  • They are short (for kids especially).  The shorter they are, the easier they are to remember and it keeps us focused on our desired outcome.
  • They are specific on what you DO want— “I achieve A’s on all my math tests.”  The goal is now specified, easier to visualize and again, easier to stay focused on the desired result.
  • They are written down.  If you are looking for even more ways to create your desired outcome, writing down your affirmation a lot of times, helps manifest what we really want.
  •  They are believable.  If the affirmation is too unbelievable, the affirmations will not be as effective.  Scale down on your affirmation if it feels too big or unrealistic for you or your child.  If you are just starting out with affirmations, start small and watch how easy it is to do affirmations and manifest your desired outcomes!
  • They are  repeated and positive

Part 1 of this Positive Kid-firmations series is Self-Esteem.  It is so vital that we start teaching self-esteem at an early age to our little munchkins.  I believe this will help dissolve all the bullying we are seeing in the schools, on the playgrounds, and on social media.  When children learn to authentically love themselves, they in turn learn how to love others and treat others with respect as well.  But, it is imperative children learn that they have self-worth, first.  As parents, we can help instill this in them by saying positive affirmations to them daily and having them repeat these affirmations out-loud as well.

I like to start our boys day off with saying affirmations like this to them when they wake up:  “You are so great at getting dressed in the morning.  You are very helpful with getting your backpack ready, thank you!  Today is a great day!”

The more positive affirmations we say to them throughout their day, the better for their self-esteem.  If we show them that we believe in them, they will start believing in themselves too.  I could go on and on about this topic, visit my Why Affirmations? page if you want to read more about how powerful positive affirmations can be for you and your child.

Here are some affirmations to get you started in creating Self-Esteem affirmations for your children:

  • I am worthy
  • I am deserving of goodness in my life
  • I am a likeable person
  • I am beautiful, inside and out
  • I am loved
  • I am strong
  • I am capable
  • I respect myself
  • I believe in myself
  • I have high self esteem and make wonderful decisions for myself
  • I know that I can do anything I set my mind to!
  • I like myself more and more each day.
  • I solve problems quickly.  Any problem that comes up in life is easily solveable.
  • I release the need to be approved by others.  I am special just the way I am.
  • I am an expression of love, kindness and peace.
  • I have something special to offer to the world.
  • I love who I am and I am proud of who I am.
  • I trust my inner wisdom.  I know what is best for me and for my life.
  • By truly loving myself, it is easy for others to love me for who I am also.
  • God is always with me.  I am never alone.
  • It is easy for me to say no to people and know that they still respect me and care for me.
  • I express myself calmly and easily and respect others who do the same.
  • I am capable of everything I choose to do in life.
  • I am proud of myself for trying new things, no matter what the outcome.
  • I am a positive and helpful person and people enjoy being around me.

Go ahead and get creative and if you haven’t already, start your Affirmation Can today!  Add these positive self-esteem  affirmations to it and start making your own positive affirmations for not just your kids, but yourself as well.  Or make fun cards and put them throughout your house for your children to find and repeat out-loud.  You will see a difference in your children and I would LOVE to hear about your experiences you have with your children in my comments section of this blog post!  We can all learn from each other!!!

    I am sooo going to do this with my family. It seems like with a 2 and 6 year old. I find myself using negative words a lot throughout the day…which is exhausting…physically and spiritually. This is such a great way to take a breath and remind ourselves and our children that we are good, life is good, God is good. Thank you for this amazing idea! 🙂
