Day 19 in The 21-day Affirmation Cleanse-your comfort zone
Today’s Cleansing Affirmation:
It is easy for me to step out of my comfort zone.
Are you comfortable stepping out of your comfort zone? Very few of us are…but this is where our souls can grow and learn…and improve!
Your comfort zone is comfortable because it is a place, a zone, of where you know what to expect. Going out of your comfort zone is going out on a limb; attempting the unknown. It can be scary because there is the chance you might fail…or possibly lose. But what if you actually gain something???
To change is to grow. When we grow, we move beyond our comfort zone. If you think about it, when we stay in our comfort zone, we are really just living in the past, where we know the results. When we engage in the present, it forces us to be open to new opportunities that come our way. And, new opportunities create a new response from our spirit. This is where our growth and improvement occur.
One of the biggest things that holds many of us back is our fear of what people will think. That is just our ego getting the best of our spirit. Our ego is just like every other living thing, doing whatever it needs to do to “survive.” The ego “survives” by us giving it power and control over our thoughts and thus, our actions. Let go of your ego and what other people might think of you and try something new…that will challenge your soul.
Our spirit actually craves change. It is our ego that we allow to take over our decisions and our life, causing us to have fearful thoughts about what could happen if we do X, Y or Z.
Living in the present moment actually dissolves the ego because we aren’t thinking thoughts about our past or our future. When we think about these ‘illusions’ they can cause thoughts of regret, sadness, embarrassment, unworthiness, guilt and fear. By living in the present moment, we are letting go and allowing life to reveal itself to us. When we are in this ‘frame of mind,’ we are relaxed and more at peace with what comes our way…and this makes it easier to try new things…and step out of our comfort zone.
So try stepping out of your comfort zone today! Just try it…you might actually gain something!!
Homework: Write down today’s affirmation 5 times in your journal. Say it out-loud 5 times after writing it down. Next, create a list of activities that brings you discomfort. Perhaps your list will include things like, public speaking, going to parties where you do not know anyone, trying a new fitness class, using a new type of technology, joining a new study group at church, signing up for a rock climbing class, joining a book club or taking cooking classes if cooking is just not your thing. These are just some ideas to help you get started. Write down your fears next to them. Now that you are a pro at writing your own affirmations, see if you can create a positive affirmation associated with each one that can help you accomplish it. Lastly, try one of these challenges today. See where it takes you.
You can do it!!! You can do anything you set your mind on!
