Day 17 in the 21-day Affirmation Cleanse-self-care

Today’s Cleansing Affirmation:

I LOVINGLY TAKE TIME TO CARE FOR MY MIND, BODY & SOUL. I ENJOY FEELING BALANCED IN ALL AREAS OF LIFE.

I have a couple of friends who are the most giving people I know. They give, give, give of themselves to everyone, at any time, any place…and rarely take time for themselves. They have been this way their entire life. It is part of who they are and they love to do it and they really don’t know how to be any other way than giving. This is a trait I so admire about them.

My mom tends to be this way too. Now that I have become a mom, I fully understand why she did and still does everything for her children. Us moms wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s called unconditional love.

Some people give too much to their jobs. Not only do they put their jobs before themselves, they put their jobs before their family and friends and in the long run, this can be devastating on relationships.

However, there comes a time when we need to show ourselves some unconditional love. This is called self-care. This is also called balance. Believe it or not, our souls need balance. Sometimes when we only take time to serve others and not ourselves, we bend so much that we eventually break…somewhere. Whether that is with our bodies and our health or our minds. We can prevent this from happening by taking time for ourselves. Getting quiet with our spirit and listening to what it needs. If we don’t take time out to listen to our bodies, they will eventually let us know…one way or another…and pretty much loud and clear.

It is important that we practice self-care. Whether it is by going for a walk in nature, taking a yoga class, taking a long relaxing shower, taking a bike ride, quiet time to meditate, read a book, get a massage, window shop with a chai tea (& friend), getting a pedi-mani, girls night out, etc. Find time for yourself once in awhile. It isn’t selfish to do these things for yourself once in a while…it is showing authentic love for your spirit. Plus, it only re-energizes your mind, body and soul so that you can be all that you can be when it comes time to serve others.

Saturday mornings I take a yoga class at our gym. It is 1 hour that I take for my mind, body and spirit. I look forward to that class like I look forward to catching up with an old friend. Like an old friend, my yoga class calms me, challenges me, supports me, encourages me, heals me, rejuvenates me and fills me with love. I love starting my weekend off this way. I think my husband and children like the person that comes out of that yoga class too! ; )

Homework: Write this affirmation down 5 times in your journal this morning. Now, go do something just for you sometime today. And do not, for one second, feel guilty feelings about it. You deserve it! You are amazing!

Childrens affirmation for today: I enjoy taking care of my body by feeding it healthy food and exercise.
