Day-14 of The Affirmation Cleanse-living in the now

Today’s Cleansing Affirmation:


One of my New Year “Commitments” (rather than a resolution) is to be more present. It was Eckhart Tolle who gave me my “ah-ha” moment that when we truly are living “in the now” or “in the moment,” we do not have or feel stress. We feel stress when we are thinking or worrying about what ‘could’ happen in in future or thinking of our past and things we may regret, or things that brought us pain.

When my mom was diagonosed with cancer, she did not tell anyone, not even her family for 3 days. She said when she heard the news, she decided this, ‘It is what it is. All I can do now is live in this moment that I have been given.’

It sounds so easy, but this is a very challenging thing to do if we are used to thinking and worrying about the future or our past.

If we keep worrying about the future, or replaying our past regrets or what someone said to us, that hurt us….we are missing the joy of the present moment and what we have to enJOY right at this very moment.

My mom was babysitting overnight for my nephews when she heard the news. If she sat and worried, worried, worried about the future and the pain cancer could bring, she would have missed the precious moments with her grandchildren at that very moment. Instead, she took on an attitude of gratitude and I’m living in THIS moment thought process and has conquered her cancer!!!….with flying colors.

The next time you are feeling a bit stressed, take a deep breath and say the affirmation, “I choose to live in THIS present moment with joy. I am in the perfect place at the perfect time.” Then, think about what is going on all around you. Smile and try and experience that VERY moment that is the ONLY moment that we actually HAVE. If you think about it, the past is gone, we can never get it back…and the future…well, that has yet to happen!

Homework: Write this affirmation down 10 times in your journal. Say this affirmation 10 times outloud. Throughout your day, when you feel a tad rushed, stressed or worried, say this affirmation and then think about the very moment that you are living in. Close your eyes and breathe 5 deep breaths and feel the divine love that is inside you and that created you. You are loved. We were not born to experience this so-called stress that we create ourselves!

Remember it is just a thought and a thought can be changed!
